Icon102 Dolly the Giant Dawg

I tried to post this as a comment on the Snopes website, but for some reason pressing "Submit comment" kept taking me to "page not found". I hope that doesn't mean I've sent this fifteen times..

My attention was grabbed by an article featured in the Fauxtography section, concerning "Dolly the Kid-Thief-Murderer-Rapist-Molester-eating Dog". I immediately recognized this photograph because I have seen it before, while browsing on the net for information on a South African breed of dog called the Boerboel. Sure enough, when I googled for Boerboel images, the image in question popped up on the second page.

On the boerboel.co.za website, in a discussion on this photo, Marius, from the Marunnik Boerboel kennel, states that the dog in the picture is actually a male called Gregori who lives in Pretoria, South Africa. On this page, a German reader asks for comments on the same photo and the information is repeated, as well as speculation that Photoshop could possibly have been used since Boerboels, while quite large dogs, tend not to be THAT large. (A few illustratory photos here and here.)

Of course, it does not take a trip down Google Lane to note that referring to the dog in the picture as "her" is rather anatomically incorrect...

I apologize if you've already received this information somewhere else, but I felt I had to make the correction anyway.
