I'm pretty sure this was on the old board, but I haven't had much luck finding the old thread. I do remember one post in particular that said something to the effect "Something tells me there's a lot missing in this story."

Apparently some of the story is missing even to the people involved, as the hospital is reluctant to turn over medical records. Recent follow up:

There was an article about Monica in the local parents paper. She really sounds llike an incredible person, and Tony is an awesome husband who treats her like a 'regular' person. It's terrible that this sort of problem (rampant infections) seems to be happening more and more often and isn't getting caught early enough.
