Icon18 The Hitler gun control lie

The notion that Hitler confiscated everyone’s guns is mostly bogus. And the ancillary claim that Jews could have stopped the Holocaust with more guns doesn’t make any sense at all if you think about it for more than a minute.

Er, no, Jewish extermination, (or at least incarceration) began within weeks of Hitler coming to power in 1933.

the thing with this is -- if people stand up and say "This is wrong" then you are technically supporting the Nazis -- you are saying they didn't do "something" wrong -- which means you think they did "nothing" wrong which makes you a sympathizer and therefor, a nazi yourself.

People are also saying that Pol Pot, Mussolini and Stalin also imposed gun controls but there's arguments online that this isn't the case either.

Yeah I'm not following your logic here at all.

It isn't NDL's logic, but the "logic" of those that use this kind of argument to limit gun control.

I mentioned in another thread that the National Socialists actually encouraged shooting clubs to open their memberships to people from the lower classes( they were kind of like the restricted country clubs in the US of their day). They sponsored shooting competitions and enacted hunting conservation laws to ensure hunting would be possible in the future. Considering they were preparing the country for war, it makes sense to familiarize as many men as possible with firearms.

Nobody seems to give much attention to the contradictory fact that in order for a tyrannical leader to strip his country's population of firearms that could be used to overthrow him, he has to maintain a large force of guys with guns to enforce the "no guns" rule.

Well, this just proves it! If the Weimar Republic - a "DEMOCRACY" like ours -- hadn't so severely restricted guns, then good Germans and Jews could have fought back and kept Hitler from coming to power in the first place!!!!eleventy!!!

....oh, well, except that the Nazi Brownshirt thugs would have severely outnumbered and out-brutalized any who opposed them, pretty much the same as they did anyway. (Hell, the SA wasn't able to defend itself from being wiped out once Hitler decided they'd outlived their usefulness and represented a potential threat to his position.)

In the comments sections to one of the articles, I notice someone still pointing out that the 1938 act kept Jews from owning guns, as if it would have made much of a difference by that point; Hitler was firmly entrenched in power well before that and armed resistance to him would have been suicidal. The only way he might have been deposed is if the army itself had turned on him, but though many officers did flirt with the idea, they didn't really attempt to take action until Germany started losing the war, and it was more in the hopes they could negotiate a surrender that would keep the nation from being completely destroyed (and perhaps even leave Germany some of its territorial gains) than because they were concerned about freedom or the Final Solution.

That's why the UN was created, so that future dictators would have access to a body of foreign troops to let them take over the country. Because everyone knows that you're much better off when the armed group that is keeping you in power is composed entirely of people that have no common heritage, culture, or history with you.

And even then, the bulk of those who tried to overthrow Hitler engaged in plots that involved the use of bombs, not guns (even though guns were readily available to them).

I know where you are going here, and find it quite astute an observation into the realm of fantasy.

Just something to chew on, I'm on a mission for a year, and am completely unarmed. Not all UN troops are armed. Many of us are equipped with just binoculars and a radio.

In many cases, that may make us more important.

Sure. All you need is a battery of 155 mm artillery at your command.

Well, it comes with being the only thing stopping tyranny along the blue line.

Oh, I wish. The only other thing on the other end of the radio is another unarmed observer.

Well, duh. The UN could hardly pursue its global anti-gun agenda by passing out guns to all its minions.

The guns would just weigh down those black U.N. helicopters.

Seriously UEL, take care of yourself and your comrades! Blessed are the peacemakers.

Icon18 Adolf Hitler gun registration quote on billboard questioned

Adolf Hitler's stern visage has loomed for months over U.S. Highway 27 from a billboard at the south end of town.

The hated dictator's face is meant to direct drivers' attention to a quote he made in 1935 praising Germany for adopting the first-ever registration program for all guns.

"This year will go down in history. For the first time, a civilized nation has full gun registration! Our streets will be safer, our police more efficient, and the world will follow our lead into the future!" the billboard reads.

Trouble is, Hitler apparently never said what the billboard claims he said.

So is there any evidence of who's responsible for coming up with it?
