Shifty Eyes Microwave radiation

My parents always told me that even though the microwave is shielded, the radiation still gets to you if you stand in front of it..true or not?

also i heard that fumes from microwave popcorn are carcinogenic, but i think thats a joke

Basically no, unless the door seals are compromised in some way.
