Default Girl attacked in elevator

My BS alarms are going off like crazy, but I'm in a debate with someone over the authenticity of this vid. I just have a hard time buying that a little girl is versed in take-downs like this. Secondly, she seems to not be hitting him hard enough to truly submit him as he seems to have submitted. Lastly, she runs after him. I just have a hard time taking this at face value.

I could see how it could happen, if the assailant was still new at the whole "grab and rape a child" deal. Those just starting out or impulse grabs very seldom expect their victim to fight back, much less with a modicum of skill. The girl looks of Asian descent, and also appears to be wearing a martial arts uniform, which puts it further into the realm of possibility, though still not extremely likely. (Anecdote <> data, but when I was in an international boarding school, all of the Japanese girls in my dormitory were various stages of high level belts in different martial arts. They told me it was common practice to enroll young and learn self defense. Obviously, I don't know if they were telling the truth.)

The video is very poor quality, but from what I can see, when he grabs her and pushes her into the wall, she immediately turns her body, breaks his hold, and puts him into an arm lock, which I was taught in jijitsu as a standard self defense move. I can tell you from bitter experience that that is a very painful thing to have happen to you, and kneeling is almost instinctive to take the pressure off.

From there it almost looks as if she tried to get him into a neck hold, but he was too large, so she resorted to just punching and kicking. Most of her punches seem to be aimed at the back and side of the neck, which would inflict a fair amount of pain even if she weren't punching hard.

My google-fu has not turned up much beyond several people cheering for the little girl, and a few more saying that it's a staged clip from Japanese TV, but they never give the name of the programme. Perhaps someone else will have better luck than I. The fact that she pulled him back into the elevator, and then followed him out with what seems to be the intention of kicking his ass more could either be the product of a staged tv show, or typical childhood "bravo", it's hard to say.

I'll keep looking, but I'd just like to say that googling "elevator child rapist" makes me feel horribly skeevy.

ETA: At 1:18 in the video, a logo flashes up for a Japanese website, but I can't make it out enough to try and go there. Maybe someone else can.

There's nothing that convinces me that she's even a child. Definitely not enough to go on from just the video.

Also, not evidence, but...
Why wait to grab her until the door opens and she's leaving? It's a closed, windowless room already?
And,
The door seems to close awfully quickly, at the beginning of the attack.

Exactly. Also, it does not look like she is actually hitting him, just shaking him around a bit.

M'kay, here's the results:

"superzool" is one of those "Hey! This domain is for sale! Check out random crap on these links!" sites.
"superzoo1" is porn.
"super2ool" is "No site found".
"super2oo1" is "No site found".

He waited until the door opened because he is trying to steal her bag not assault her.
In the news clip Brian posted you can see that in addition to the backpack there is another strap hanging on her right shoulder. When the man makes his move at 28/29 seconds he stretches across her body to grab the bag. The clip is slowed and paused there but I don't know what the newscaster v/o is saying.

That might also be why she appears to be shaking him once he is down - she is trying to get the bag back.

She doesn't look like a child to me More like a teenager. There is brown belt in my jujitsu class who is about the same size as her. I can see someone who starts at 14 getting pretty good and taking down an assailant by the time she is 17.

Maybe it's my imagination, but it does look like she is using some jujitsu on him. when he first attacks her, it looks like she pressed a pressure point on his elbow and pushed his hand to get him down. Then around the 1:00 mark, she is trying to get him into an arm bar, but he is able to wrestle his way out of it.

And what is she wearing? Is it a Gi? We get a very brief glimpse but it looks like it could be a Gi. Could it be a training video? You'd have to be pretty stupid to attack someone wearing a Gi.

The caption in white on red is blurry but toward the end it says "... girl kicks butt". That was the first part of the title of Kick Ass the movie in Chinese.

Im not sure if its real or not, but when I saw him get on I was hoping she would jump off. My mom always told me to get off the elevator if a man gets on and your by yourself.

She meant a man you don't know, right?

Well, since most sexual assaults are done by people that the victim knows, it would probably be the other way around.

(I'll get it - )

Male co-workers keep getting on the elevator with me. I guess I'll need to start using the stairs, or find an elevator buddy.

Yeah. If I had to get off an elevator everytime someone of the opposite sex got on, I would never reach work!

Although, if someone of either gender gets into a lift with me, and for whatever reason, I don't feel safe, I've had to tell myself sternly that it's perfectly okay to get off and take the next trip up or down.

So if I go to an elevator and there's a woman inside the polite thing for me to do would be to stand back and let the woman ride alone? Wouldn't she be thinking "do I smell funny or what"? I know that if I entered an elevator where there's a a woman and the woman got off I'd be insulted.

The only reason I don't ride the lifts at work with male colleagues is because they grin wickedly and threaten to pass wind the moment the doors close. And I've worked with them long enough to know that they darn well would! I work with people who have an evil sense of humour (and I love every minute of working with them!)

No. If she feels uncomfortable in the situation, it's her responsibility to leave it.

If I gave it any thought at all, I'd probably figure you'd forgotten something.

There's really no reason to take it personally. Whatever her reason for getting it off, if she's a stranger to you, then that reason can't have anything to do with you as a person.
