Default Target Giftcard Settlement

I just got this in a Myspace Bulletin.

Quote:
Subject: best friend told me you'd want to see this pic
Body: My friend Maria just sent me a pic with her holding a giftacard to target for 500 dollars. She has been telling me how target lost a lawsuit and has to give away something like 25 thousand giftcards worth 500 dollars.

I just entered my email address and all of my families email addresses. It only takes like 15 secs and you will get the card in the mail in about 1 week. You guys can thank me later!!!!! Just Cut and paste the link below into your browser. It takes 20 secs and its free!!!

The Whois entry for that IP address doesn't seem to be related to Target Stores.

*Notice: To claim your reward you must participate in our program and meet all of the offer eligibility requirements as outlined in the Terms & Conditions before you can receive your FREE reward. Eligibility requirements include signing up for at least 2 Silver, 2 Gold and 2 Platinum offers. Available offers will vary and some offers may require a purchase to qualify. Those qualifying for Gift Card rewards will have the option of receiving a Visa gift card or a retailer’s gift card where available.

That should be a big giveaway that it has nothing to do with Target. Its one of those Pyramid Schemes where you have to purchase stuff from their partners.

If Target was involved in a lawsuit, it would have made national news and there would be a mention of it at target.com. Furthermore, any kind of a settlement would not be individual $500 gift cards. It would be at most 5-10 bucks.

I don't even want to think about what I would do to the friend or family member who entered my email into this scheme in the hopes that I would "thank them later."

I guarantee they won't be thanking you. Rather they may file a restraining order...
