Comment: Is this pathetic or what? Some people have so much class they don't know how to handle it.
Can you imagine Laura Bush dressing like this? I love the fact the credit card expires on Nov. 6th Oh yeah… the very picture of a First Lady…

Um, excuse me, I'm not even sure that picture is legit, but......
AFAIK, the first family still buys their own clothes, do they not? Heck, unless it's a gov function, they even pay for their own food. And it's not cheap, either. EDIT: apparently the photo is legit, but as usual, the people who put together this sort of thing pick the most unflattering angle they can to prove their political point. I looked at the photos of the event elsewhere, and I see nothing wrong with what she wore. In several reviews, she got positive remarks. In fact, it looks to me as if the photo has been manipulated a bit maybe. Last edited by DrRocket; 22 May 2012 at 04:25 AM. |

I did some googling and that does appear to be what she wore to the kids choice awards. As for "looking like a Hoochie Mama," seriously. Tight jeans and a jacket makes one a hoochie mama, or is that only The First Lady?

I love the way (not) that the card has 666(6) as part if it's number.

And who's the guy next to President Obama in the picture at the far right? Is that supposed to be Lenin?

Right, it would have been much better if she'd shown up in a ball gown and white elbow gloves to the Kids Choice Awards...
Isn't this the same awards show where they routinely dump green slime on people? And what's with criticizing her for the expiration date on her credit card? Do they think the First Lady got to pick it herself, assuming that it's even real? This is the same First Lady who was criticized for the unforgivable sin of trying to give kids an alternative to childhood obesity. The wingnuts on the right just get sillier and sillier. AliBaba |

Why would the card expire on November 6th? Even if Obama was defeated, he would still be President and she would still be First Lady until January 20th.

Hmmm, comparing with Laura Bush. I wonder what a typical dress cost that she would have worn when appearing on a nationally broadcast television show. Somehow I doubt Laura B. would have picked up a $30 dress from Kmart. Heck, Nancy Reagan wouldn't have been caught dead on television in an outfit that cost as little as the ~$1200 Michelle is claimed to have spent.
Secondly, as others have pointed out, whatever was paid for the outfit was paid by the Obama's, not taxpayers. Thirdly, it would think there is a very high probability that she didn't pay for the outfit at all. First ladies often get their outfits donated. Especially when the outfit will be on TV. Fourthly, "hoochie mamma", all I can say is if you've got it flaunt it. Wouldn't matter what most first ladies wear, they generally don't rise to being particularly good looking. (At least not Since Jackie Kennedy. ) Just because you are the first lady doesn't mean you have to dress like grandma. Looking at the other photos from the event, Michelle looks spectacular and is dress completely appropriately for the event. |

For some reason this comment bothers me. Maybe because it sounds like you are judging their worth as First Lady based on their attractiveness. Which isn't that far from how Hillary Clinton was often berated for not being hot when she was campaigning for President. If that's not what you were doing, please ignore this comment.

It's a tunic with pants under it.
How dare she?

Yes, how dare she. Doesn't she know a real "hoochie mama" would have foregone the pants????

I do think the reflectivity of the shiny jeans make them look a little see-through from the angle of the original photo, but other photos make it clear that's just a trick of the light. They're solidly opaque.

Personally, I think the outfit is cute, stylish, and it makes her seem very accessible and down to earth. Apparently, this is a sin to wingnuts.

Unless she looks too down to Earth, like when she wore cargo shorts to the Grand Canyon; apparently that was too casual for a trip through the desert.

I'm pretty sure it's just a joke. A bad joke that doesn't even make sense, but a joke.

My gosh, the Right will make any complaint about the Obamas!
"They're breathing wrong! They are inhaling Oxygen at the expense of the tax payer's dollars! I can't wait until November when we can get someone who knows how to get air in his lungs like a real American!"
