I like the way they prove God exists by quoting... erm, God...

Or you could always paraphrase Star Wars, who's the bigger fool the one who leads or the one who follows?

Some guy named Jesus, in Matthew 5:22.

It's not the things I don't believe in that I'm worried of harming me, it's the mindless adherents to the things I don't believe in that are a serious threat.

I don't think that and neither do any of the other atheists I know. (I assume the missing word be tween "atheist" and "that" is "think.")

Read This!

I was so wondering where I should post this:
Quote:
Insanity of a Jealous God

Many non-believers struggle with the fact that so many good and intelligent people actually believe in the Bible despite all the irrational nonsense. As someone who aspires to be patient and respectful, this is something I wrestle with constantly. The Second Commandment declares that god is a jealous god. How can this insanity be ignored? Would the sole creator of life and billions of galaxies really need a bunch of gnats stroking his ego? Is it more likely that a jealous god created jealous men, or jealous men created a jealous god? I have to go with the latter. Of all the madness in the Bible, a jealous god has to be the most absurd. But perhaps I’m the one who is nuts.

I stumbled onto that bit of logic as a teenager. It was one of the many reasons I ended up becoming an atheists

Yeah, we've been spending most our lives, living in an Amish paradise.

I hate the trope that atheists are stubborn. I don't want to die, and sometimes it's bloody hard to have courage and do good and keep going when nobody's watching and there's no reward. I'd rather have some supernatural force take care of me, but I haven't found one.

Pictures like that are backslapping by believers for believers. They have nothing to say to someone who doesn't believe. If he's doesn't care about insulting people, don't feed the troll. If he would never insult people to their face but will do it in a cowardly way like this, mildly tell him it's rude.

Other than the fact that they say they don't believe in any gods, I don't know of even one difference between atheists and non-atheists.

Perhaps by recognizing that a modern English translation can have different connotations than something written thousands of years ago in a different language.

Even when attempting to maintain historical context, the idea of a god that creates humans and gets angry and dishes out vicious punishments if they fail to show sufficient levels of sucking up and is also adamant that no other gods exist but paranoid about his worshipers switching over to follow a different god and so requires them to constantly prove their devotion to him through a variety of tests is disturbing.

To some, it's disturbing; to others, it's consistent with their theology:

Some of us find that theology disturbing.

Do you mean to imply by this that the same is not true for some theists?

I'm not aware of any theists who write books about them not believing in God, no. Are you?

I think ganz meant that people often write books about what they believe (or don't) in.
