Potato Chips and Root Beer with God

I certainly understand the no food allowed policy, but in the past, Metro officials have over-reacted just a bit.

Last time I was on the DC subway, there were so many folks there wasn't room to open a packet of crisps even if I had them.

Of course, that was when we were headed to the Rally to Restore Sanity along with 200,000 other people.

Brisbane public transport has a similar no food policy but I (and others) have had a sneaky snack. Especially on the train when the driver is separated from you and the ticket checkers are a rare thing.

When I buy a snack to consume on the way home I would buy one bag of chips and one can of softdrink (soda) or maybe a 600ml bottle so I can put the lid back on. Why did the writter need a whole six pack? It just more to carry!

Why did the writter need a whole six pack?

Because the glurge says:

A little boy wanted to meet God. He knew it was a long trip to where God lived, so he packed his suitcase with a bag of potato chips and a six-pack of root beer and started his journey.

Convenient that "God" was hanging out three whole blocks away, so he didn't need all the soda we brought.

When the boy opened the door to his own house a short time later, his mother was surprised by the look of joy on his face. She asked him,

"Where the hell have you been?! I've been worried sick!"

Meanwhile, the old man, also radiant with joy, returned to his home. His son was stunned by the look of peace on his face and he asked, "dad, what did you do today that made you so happy?"

He replied "I ate potato chips in the park with God." However, before his son responded, he added, "You know, he's much younger than I expected."

It was then that his son realised home care wasn't enough and sent his father to live in an assisted living apartment.
