From PaPa, passer on of extreme amounts of glurge.
This one, however, is just creepy. And badly written. Potato Chips & Root Beer with God This is so wonderful. I am sitting here smiling as I send this. Please enjoy this, Idid; Take 60 seconds to read this wonderful story. It will give you time to settle your brain, gather your thoughts, calm down and end your week on a positive note…. *Potato Chips A little boy wanted to meet God. He knew it was a long trip to where God lived, so he packed his suitcase with a bag of potato chips and a six-pack of root beer and started his journey. When he had gone about three blocks, he met an old man. He was sitting in the park, just staring at some pigeons. The boy sat down next to him and opened his suitcase. He was about to take a drink from his root beer when he noticed that the old man looked hungry, so he offered him some chips. He gratefully accepted it and smiled at him. His smile was so pretty that the boy wanted to see it again, so he offered him a root beer. Again, he smiled at him. The boy was delighted! They sat there all afternoon eating and smiling, but they never said a word. As twilight approached, the boy realized how tired he was and he got up to leave; but before he had gone more than a few steps, he turned around, ran back to the old man, and gave him a hug. He gave him his biggest smile ever.. When the boy opened the door to his own house a short time later, his mother was surprised by the look of joy on his face. She asked him, "What did you do today that made you so happy?" He replied, "I had lunch with God." But before his mother could respond, he added, "You know what? He's got the most beautiful smile I've ever seen!" Meanwhile, the old man, also radiant with joy, returned to his home. His son was stunned by the look of peace on his face and he asked, "dad, what did you do today that made you so happy?" He replied "I ate potato chips in the park with God." However, before his son responded, he added, "You know, he's much younger than I expected." Too often we underestimate the power of a touch, a smile, a kind word, a listening ear, an honest compliment, or the smallest act of caring, all of which have the potential to turn a life around. People come into our lives for a reason, a season, or a lifetime! Embrace all equally! Have lunch with God.......bring chips. Send this to people who have touched your life in a special way. Let them know how important they are. I did!!!! God still sits on the throne. You may be going through a tough time right now but God is getting ready to bless you in a way that only He can. Keep the faith! My instructions were to pick four people that I wanted God to bless, and I picked you. Please pass this to at least four people you want to be blessed. This prayer is powerful, and prayer is one of the best gifts we receive. There is no cost but a lot of rewards. Let's continue to pray for one another. Here is the prayer:* *Father, I ask You to bless my friends, relatives and e-mail buddies reading this right now. Show them a new revelation of Your love and power. Holy Spirit, I ask You to minister to their spirit at this very moment. Where there is pain, give them Your peace and mercy. Where there is self-doubt, release a renewed confidence through Your grace. Bless their homes, families, finances, their goings and their comings. In Jesus' precious name, Amen. I know I picked more than four, so can you! *= |

Sure, I can think of more than four people I'd like to make vomit.

I would have figured God would have a more appealing spread than potato chips and root beer for lunch. Potato chips and root beer would be an okay snack, but if I tried to eat that for lunch I'd just be sick.

If all he's eating is potato chips and root beer, I'm not surprised he's still sitting on the throne. Maybe throw in a little fiber now and then?

Good thing no one is nearby at work to hear me stifle laughter at that one, Arts Myth.
![]() You think God could have done a bit better than chips and root beer. Maybe a tuna fish sandwich (I hear he's big on fish.) PS. They each drank several root beers, right? Is that why I have the image of them burp-saying saying the Apostle's Creed? |

It would save the Catholic Church a fortune on Eucharist supplies.
"Can I have a Salt'n'Vinegar Jesus, please?" |

Old man on a park bench? And there weren't any Walnettos in this story?

Oy, I've got a charlie horse from trying to follow the leap this story made. Why on earth would two people who had a pleasant, wordless encounter with a stranger immediately (without stopping at Go) assume they had just communed with God?
It doesn't help that when I read Quote:

Both characters thought they spoke with God, and both were objectively wrong. Interesting.

If it had stopped with the old man's comment, "He's much younger than I expected" I would have gotten a small chuckle out of it remembering the TV shoe Joan of Arcadia. But the continuation was a complete turnoff.

"Hey, I like that God dude. He seems like the kind of guy you can sit and have a (root) beer with."

It was the end of the day and I headed to the station to take the train home. As a snack, I purchased a packet of crisps and a 6-pack of root beer. I sat down at a table and began to read the paper. This old man sits down next to me and opens my crisps packet and helps himself. Giving him a glare (but not saying anything as that is our way). I took a crisps myself. He glares at me and helps himself to one of my root beers. Not wanting this pushy stranger to eat all my snack. I took a root beer as well. 3 root beers and a half a packet of crisps later, I'm silently fuming at the stranger's back as he leaves.
Then I go to leave a notice a packet of crisps and a six-pack of root beer under my paper. I had been eating the stranger's crisps and drinking his root beer all along. God is like the stranger. We think we are enjoying our success and fortune, but it is God's all along. We begrude Him the slightest share of what we think is ours, when it is all His. |

Neither that boy nor the old man has any understanding of God. You see, God is spirit--pure energy. That is why he cannot be seen with the eyes. The child thought that God is an old man, and the elderly gent assumed that God can be like a child.
Strange that neither asks the other for his name. They just each assumed that the other was God. Barb Rainey |

This made me imagine Gollum as Jesus, or maybe it was Jesus as Gollum. Either way, it is an entertaining thought.

I don't think either the wafers or the wine is terribly expensive. Monks work for free, after all, and I'm pretty sure they're responsible for most of the production.

Just got off of the throne myself. Interesting what brats, sourkraut and brownies in the same meal will do to you.
