Comment: There is the famous
story that with the popularity of MacArthur in Japan a group in Tokyo put up a banner reading "We play/pray for MacArthur's erection." I swore I saw this picture in a book before, but searching on the internet now there seems to be no physical evidence. Since this sign would be such an obvious joke based on the Japanese confusion with "l" and "r" many believe the story is just an urban legend. |

I call UL on this one. Besides the obvious "dumb foreigner" stereotype, just because the spoken version of English in Japan appears that way, doesn' mean that the written version is the same way. Plus, wouldn't most of the signs be written in oh I don't know, Japanese?
