Throw Tomato Razor blades in carwash brushes

Comment: My husband and I were at the carwash and
he mentioned something about that old 'urban legend' about razor blades
being put in the spinning brushes at the drive through carwashes (so you
would come out with ruined paint). I had never heard this one before so I
told him I'd look it up on your site and I don't see it anywhere. He says
he always heard that it was happening up in Los Angeles. I hope you can
find out the truth on this one, especially since after he brought it up
several of our friends claimed they had heard it as well!

Exactly how do they fix the blades in so they could survive the spinning brushes, they would have to be manufactured with the blades in them already for them to stay in.

If you wanted to do that, why put razor blades? Stiff wires would do as much damage and they would last a whole lot longer than razor blades and the would be easier to install. Gee, get your evils right, man....

There are many who believe that the brush type car washes will damage the paint on your car because of the build up of dirt from all the previous cars. I have not done a study on this but I have seen a picture of the car wash machine used at the Ferrari factory. It has rotary brushes.

And why would they want to do this? To go out of business?

Or is this a case of sabotage?

That was what I wondered as well. After reading it a second time I believe the claim is that people are doing this as a pointless act of vandalism and nothing more.

ETA: In other words it isn't the car wash placing them there, but vandals sneaking in after hours. Or I suppose disgruntled employees.
