I'm pretty sure that would be illegal.

The guy was driving, but I think that the girl was filming. We don't see her but hear her voice.

Several years ago a friend of mine was killed by a driver who was reading a magazine whilst driving. People like this should be permanently excluded from operating all forms of motorised transport.

I am pretty sure there are more general laws that cover this ('distracted driving' or something) but it's part of the reason I think we need to quit making new 'no texting and driving' and 'no talking on the phone and driving' laws, and instead make sure people know- distracted driving is against the law, and texting and driving is distracted driving- as well as reading, putting on makeup, watching a dvd, looking up a phone number in your address book, etc, while driving, and that all are equally intolerable under the law.

I had a guy in back of me yesterday morning shaving while driving.

My ex has a friend who used to read while driving (maybe he still does, I haven't seen or spoken to him in years) and insisted it was perfectly safe because he looked up every few seconds.
![]() And I once read a profile of a woman who had gone back to school while working and raising kids. She was short on time, of course, and she had a long commute to school, so she studied while she drove -- not with tapes or CDs, but with books and notes on the passenger seat. |

I was once on a bus that was almost struck by a woman who was putting her makeup on while driving.

I've been known to do this at stoplights, but never while the car is in motion. I've also practiced my bagpipes in this way too.

I'm trying to picture the bagpipes in the car, but can't wrap my brain around that.

Michigan has distracted driving laws, but they just added an texting while driving ban as well.
I saw a lady putting makeup on while driving, just yesterday. |

I was driving back from a library convention at Jekyll Island with coworkers several years back when we spotted a woman on I-16 reading a paperback she'd perched on her steering wheel. We all agreed, dedicated readers that we were, that was just taking it a bit too far. (none of us recognized her as having attended the convention)

I was almost run off the road by a man who was talking on his cell, writing something on his dash board, and entering the freeway (60mph.) Had he hit me and not killed me, I would've killed him.

I was once followed in a traffic jam by a woman eating something from a bowl/plate/container on her lap while simultaneously looking at something on her mobile phone. She also had no seat belt on, and neither did the child in the passenger seat next to her
Granted it wasn't 75mph but I couldn't get away from her and didn't fancy being rear-ended if she accelerated and didn't see me in front of her.

I was traveling back to Wausau from Milwaukee once with some friends and we passed a driver with a big heavy book on the steering wheel who was busy reading. We sped up and got away from that car as fast as we legally could.

I once saw a woman merging onto a freeway who was using one hand to hold a bowl of food and the other hand to hold both a spoon and a cigarette. And she had a cell phone held between her ear and her shoulder.

Weirdest thing I've seen was someone brushing their teeth while driving (and opening their door a crack to spit at an intersection after they were done).
