Here's her blog. I'm sure there's a way to translate it into English, but I'm not sure how.

My Russian is not very good, but Ms. Fokina appears to be a strange combination Isadora Duncan, Billy Mays, and those people who give parenting advice along the lines of "If you do not hold your baby for at least five minutes immediately after birth [or insert other thing with impossibly narrow time window, relying on a lot of luck], you will mess up your child irredeemably, forever."

That was weird. Let's try again.

Is that one working?

I'm watching that second video now, on a better monitor, and I see what you mean. The baby in the first video looked so doll-like when being flipped around, and even some of the "walking" and "crawling" looked more like a doll being manipulated, but this other video has a lot more obvious independent arm and head movement during some of the slower points of the mother's routine. Scary if real.

The pictures look way too clean for underwater shots, not to have been significantly airbrushed, and that is not the Black Sea, even though Fokina's website goes on about how you have to do your baby water-yoga in the sea so you can pay her lots of money to arrange retreats at the Black Sea shore-- umm, I mean, because it's natural, and the sea is like mother earth's amniotic fluid, or something. Yeah, that's it.

But, other than I don't think you are supposed to put anything around the neck of a kid who is swimming, the pictures don't look too "off" from infant swimming classes I've seen. A lot of tiny steps go into teaching a baby to hold its breath underwater, but it happens predictably if you follow then, and babies love to play in water.

I'm just glad I'm not the only one who keeps seeing the title of this thread as "Baba Yaga" and came in hoping to see if someone had caught a photo of her...

I thought I did once, but all I got was a blurry shot of some fowl's legs.

I just saw the tape and i actually gasped and clutched my chest. I understand that different cultures accept different things but that is totaly crazy to me. Swinging a new born next to a fire and over a rock road?!?!?! And naked in the snow. Really?!?!!? wth? The baby is not a hacky sack.

I was merely thinking that there might be a connection between cyrillic text and a Russian web site when discussing what language it might be.

The unnecessary danger is what struck me the most too. It wouldn't be quite as alarming if she were swinging the baby around by its feet over some sort of soft pad or an inflatable cushion, but the fact that she's doing it to the kid over a rough gravel road just seems to be unnecessary since even the most skilled expert can have something unexpected go wrong. The baby seems to be unharmed from what we've seen in the videos, but she's really upping her chances that something bad COULD happen and it just seems foolhardy to me.

It looked to me like the leaves in the trees were blowing a lot more than her hair was, although who knows what sort of industrial gel she might have been using?

Anyway, it did make me wonder if the background had been greenscreened. Of course, what she set the beby down on hadn't, but if they were in a studio, it still could have been deceptive, somehow, in that there could have been some kind of mat in case she dropped the baby.

Not that that makes it much better.

On her website, she sounds a lot like many New Age gurus, as far as my bad Russian can discern. Nature holds all the answers to your perfect and unending happiness. The world is too complicated, and we need to simplify, and get back to out primal nature. Give me lots of money, and I'll show you how to do it. Apparently your happiness is simple, but hers requires some rubles.

Ok, admittedly I didn't watch all of the first video, and none of the second, but I haven't heard any mention of sexual poses. Durr?

I watched the entire first video, and some of the second, and I can't figure out what is supposed to be "sexually explicit poses of the parents" either.

The youtube video is down but I watched the video in the later link and was horrified. Real or not, I couldn't bring myself to watch the whole thing. It made me feel ill.

Allow me to play the role of punctuationally impaired, probably a little overly Christian, American, and explain how one could view these pictures.

OMG!!!!! Not only is she nekkid, but I think she's preggers! which means she's had the, you know, relations, and isn't hiding it under one of those nice maternity blouses you can get at the church bazaar. I'll bet the first kid isn't even adopted. I'll bet she even knows it, and maybe the facts of life. A kid shouldn't know that until he absolutely has to, which is to understand why he now has to marry Peggy Sue, drop out of high school, and get a job on the lube rack. Of course that kid is a girl-- it has long hair.

Gah!!! I'll bet this one breastfeeds in public. If that's pornography, I don't know what is! Anything that gets other people all hot and bothered should be done in the privacy of one's own home. Although, decent people use formula, you know.

Nipple. That's all I have to say about that.

This woman is clearly in pursuit of the child, which can only be for nefarious purposes. A nekkid adult pursuing a child is unconstitutional, even if it happens in Russia.

I should not even need to explain this one.

Where's the outrage??? Won't someone think of the children!!!

Gawker has more information about the woman behind the video.

Quote:
Lena has a website where she advertises herself as a childrearing expert based in Dahab, Egypt. We tracked her down through her Russian booking agent, but were unable to interview her because of the language barrier. Enter Nathan Thornburgh: He's a daddy blogger and who writes about Russia for Time magazine. He interviewed Lena in her native Russian, and got her to explain her "extreme developmental gymnastics" techniques.

Re: sexually explicit poses - The first time I watched the first video linked in this thread I thought I saw a topless woman at least once in those pictures that kept kind of swooping around the sides. That's a poor description, but I can't think of a better one. I don't remember at what point in the video I saw the topless woman and don't really feel like watching the whole video again when it was just a glimpse. I think that could possibly be what's being referred to though.
