Default Standing cat

Comment: This is terrific, but is it true?

At first I thought so, but then I saw this:

I've seen cats stand for as long though not often. Looks like the cushion might be aiding a little in helping maintain the stance.

I love the shopped version just as much as the non-shopped.

Hello Kitty

I could swear that we discussed this once before, long ago, but it seems to have been purged. I like the cameo appearance by Ceiling Cat.

And I've had cats that would stand like meerkats when looking at something outside.

Our cat Crumpet (jet-black shorthair, with a disproportionately long tail) used to stand on her hind legs as we opened her cat food. Then one day, for no apparent reason, she began to walk bipedally. She freaked out one of our friends one day when he was sitting with us on the sofa and Crumpet came strolling past.

She didn't always walk bipedally--but she seemed to do it once or twice every day. We never figured out why, except she got a view of what was on the coffee table without the trouble of jumping up on it. I'm convinced that her long tail counterbalanced her to some extent.

Hello Kitty

There's a whole bunch of standing cat videos on youtube. Here's a few of them:

Here's a bipedal walking cat:

(The footage is played back and forth over a few seconds of footage but ti actually does take a few steps)
