I got this as a MySpace bulletin today:
******************************************** POM Wonderful? We don't think so. There's nothing wonderful about cruelty to animals. Although it's hard to believe that producing fruit juice can involve hurting animals, POM has found a way to make that a reality. No, they aren’t just feeding animals juice—POM funds experiments that involve things like inducing severe brain injuries in mice and giving rabbits erectile dysfunction, all in an attempt to make health claims about pomegranate juice. Other juice companies like Welch's, Ocean Spray, Naked, Old Orchard, Frutzzo, and Lakewood all rely on more sophisticated, non-animal tests, and all have policies against experimenting on animals. Now is the time for POM to do the same. Let's make POM's phone ring off the hook! Everyone call POM’s headquarters at 310-966-5800 and tell them that you won't buy any of POM's products until the company stops experimenting on animals once and for all. (You can also e-mail POM's CEO, Matt Tupper, by clicking here.) And after you call, please repost this bulletin. To repost, just hit "Reply" and copy and paste the entire message into a new bulletin. ******************************************** PETA has a story about this - but are they reliable with this sort of information? |

According to that there have been trials to test the use of pomegranate juice against prostate cancer that involved animals. But I don't know if they were paid for specifically by POM brand juice. |

Is it wrong that I find the concept of giving rabbits erectile disfunction hilarious? That's not to say that I think it's a good thing, but it does seem so ironic (and one of those jobs that people who do don't tell others about).

Swear to god, I thought the title was "Porn" juice, not "Pom" juice...

I saw Pom Juice and immediately pictured the English cricket team in a giant juicer.
Mind you, having lost the Ashes it might be safer for them than returning home... Dropbear |

I thought Pom was short for Pomeranian... This would make the cruelty to animals part more clear.

This is improbable. If such information were to get to the public, if it were found to be true, it would be classified as animal cruelty, which would essentialy shut down the company.

I'm sorry, but giving rabbits ED just sounds hilarious!
I doubt it. I don't see any reason why POM would have to do this and rhiaandmoi seems to be talking about something to prevent cancer, which sounds good. Then again, to treat it, you have to get it first, so who knows? This is definitely something that I need to find out more about. On the other hand, MySpace isn't the best source for anything factual. My sister got news about a poltergeist on there, after all. Anything PETA says is best taken with a grain of salt as well. ~Ten "Gives a new meaning to not being able to get the rabbit out of the hat" ko |

'Specially 'cause when I picture a rabbit, it is normally wearing sunglasses, talking about how horny and virile it is, sporting a massive erection and grinning. Damn scientists.
