Default Silence

A classic self-fulfilling prophecy. At 20 past, everyone listens for the inexplicable silence and voila!

No one ever notices those occasions when a silence did not happen, of course.

And why the heck has this board put a love-heart smiley on my post?

I am a bit confused. What are you talking about? Silence at 20 past when?

Looks like a bunny to me. That's the default icon for the current theme.

Welcome to the board.

it's something I've heard before - basically that at 20 past the hour conversation among a given group will have a brief silence.

tho this is generally only noticed when people then say "ah, must be twenty past then!" or somesuch.

I think the OP is talking about this urban legend.
