United States "The Marine and the Atheist Professor" returns

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IIci8_zJzdY

If you never saw this story on the old forum, it's new to you. If you did, it's got some elements I don't recall it having before, such as the professor being in the ACLU and the students applauding at the end.

How did they manage to get Stephen Hawking to narrate the story?

Military

The comments section was actually enjoyable for a change.

One of the best was this tacked on epilogue:

Quote:
The class cheered. The Marine then was arrested for assault and battery and received a dishonorable discharge from the Marine Corps and his life was f***ed.

End of Story.

Since YouTube commentary is usually provided by subscribers (or trolls), if you look at a rational person's video you tend to get mostly rational commentary.

Versions with the professor as an ACLU member go back at least to January 2005 .

Now wait a minute, the Professor while being beligerent about it is verbally giving his opinion, which he has the right to do. So, somehow the Marine has the right to SHOVE HIM DOWNNN!!!! I don't know where this university allegedly is, but in mine if someone commits physical harm to another person they have one of two choices 1) Get arrested or 2) Agree to seek psychiatric counseling.

What do you mean by choice? It's pretty much a given that if this actually happened in real life the professor would press charges for assault.

As an aside I love it how the people who write these sorts of things completely ignore the ACLU's long history of supporting everyone's First Amendment rights, even theirs.
