The urban legend has been that "No, No, Nanette" was the play former team owner Harry Frazee bankrolled with the money he received for selling Babe Ruth to the New York Yankees. The sale of Ruth made a sports dynasty of the Yankees, while Boston went 86 years without a World Series championship while burdened by the "Curse of the Bambino."
Actually, Frazee's play and his team tanked. His money went to a short-lived production called "My Lady Friends," a nonmusical on which "No, No, Nanette" is based.
