Don't put money on the bed...

My SIL said that my MIL told her (which doesn't surprise me), that putting money on a/the bed is bad luck. My SIL's friend & myself have never heard of this...has anyone here?

What about having the money in a wallet in my jeans when I am sitting on said bed or taking a nap on said bed? Does that count? Why would it be considered bad lick???

I don't know about luck, but putting money on the bed often implys that you are paying for sex so maybe that's where it comes from.

My mother said you should not put you purse on the bed. That's the closest i've heard.

If I leave tissues on the bed, they usually end up in wierd places (and when I sleep naked, they end up in really weird places). So, maybe they say don't leave money on the bed, because you might lose it.

My mother tells me not to leave money on the bed but not because of bad luck but because may leave its "smell" on the bed.

Presumably for the same reason that walking under a ladder, opening an umbrella indoors, or breaking a mirror causes grave misfortune down the road--post hoc ergo propter hoc.

I often set my purse on the floor, or the ground outside, so it's probably a good idea to avoid putting my purse on the sheets (especially since I don't wear pajamas), or any surface where food is prepared. But that has nothing to do with money.
