Perhaps it was just before going home time, the builders realised they were one crystal short of finishing the job and thought "There's no way we're going to get down to the supplier and find one more crystal. Hey I've got an idea. Larry pass that coke you finished earlier. *smash*. It's not like anyone will notice. Job done, let's go home."
