I'm going through old emails & found this one...I recall something being on the main page but I can't find it, chow if necessary.
****PLEASE READ THIS......IT COULD BE HELPFUL**** This came from a friend of mine who works at UMB Bank, and this came from one of her fellow employees. Very important to pass along to all of you. Here is a summary of what happened to me this weekend. On Saturday, June 17 about 12 midnight, I went through the drive up window at the Wendy's here in Raytown. I placed my order and then pulled forward to the first window. ( We all know the routine). I was then approached by the employee who repeated the total back to me and then took my debit card to swipe it for the purchase. She then handed it back to me, and I slid it back into my wallet. ( NO BIG DEAL RIGHT? ) & nbsp; The following morning, I get up and head over to my parents house to celebrate Father's Day. Just as soon as I walked in the door, my mom gave me a message that was left my UMB Security. I called back and they had some shocking news! My card had been used a total of 9 times SINCE my latest purchase at Wendy's. There were a couple more charges at the Wendy's, and the rest took place at a Walgreens in Kansas City. So now my account sits over $300 over-drawn. I explained to the young lady on the phone that was assisting me that I STILL had my card in my possession. She explained that this was nearly impossible and to double check for her. I opened up my wallet to find a UMB Debit Card, but it was not my own. It was a card that belonged to a Paula Masheter!!!!! We then checked the status on that card and what do you think we found? Same thi ng. Reported lost-stolen due to fraudulent acitivity. And even better, there were charges on that card from Wendy's and Walgreens in Kansas City. So then it was apparent what had took place. When I went through the drive up windown at Wendy's that night, The lady swipped my card and then handed me back and already stolen and cancelled card. I would have never known the difference........THEY ALL LOOK THE SAME!! (Especially at MIDNIGHT!!) So I have filed a police report with Raytown Police Department and I'm waiting to hear back for them to follow up on this little 'ring' that's going on. Just be aware of what you are doing. I can honestly say, that I have NEVER looked at my debit card after someone swipes it to make sure that my name is on the card. But.......I will now. I am going to forward this down to Retail Support for them to be aware! Last edited by Squishy0405; 31 March 2007 at 09:23 PM. |
