A similar story from December suggests that this sort of thing is a missile going out of control.

Look to be a still image with a sound track added of generic cricket sounds. I would think it is still early in the year to hear crickets that far north. The explosion to the the faint boom sound is less that 6 second. That would mean it is less than a mile away. The light ball, spirial and exposion look like cheap computer special effects.

TheWeatherSpace.com is not to be confused with spaceweather.com which is scinetific news about what is happening above the earth.

Those spirally things don't look like any real atmospheric phenomenon to me, and the final "explosion" ring surely dissipates much too quickly for a real cloud.

The whole thing does look like cheap computer effects.

You have to ask as well, if it's not, what were they originally filming? So perfect that it happened entirely within frame!

I think the clip is a created "this is what it could have looked like" example, not an actual filming from the event.

Bellow is the three stories so far from The Weather Space with more pictures and video. I would not be surprised to see more in the next few days. BTW I believe very little on this site.

This is definitely fake (unlike the legitimate one that occurred last year.) It was made using a program called Particle Illusion.

Spirals are too perfectly round for my taste.

The people who made it are going for it though - if you follow the link there are several supposed films and pictures from different cameras and witnesses, none of which look much more convincing than the first. (In fact, combined they make you wonder exactly why all these people were filming exactly that bit of sky before the thing appeared. Most fireballs that appear in multiple still camera or surveillance camera shots aren't perfectly framed in all of them, and you can tell why the camera would have been there.)

There's one still that does look more like the spiral that Jenn linked to, but because of that it doesn't really match the other films...

PS Welcome to the boards!

I'm extremely naive and even I think this is fake.

Thanks. I've been here off and on over the years. But my old account was either deleted due to lack of activity or I'm mis-remembering my login, so I created a new account.

I recognized the 'ring' at the end of the video as being one of the particle shapes from Particle Illusion. Below is a pic of the ring I made from the demo version of the app. It's identical to the ring in the vid.
