Computer Muslim Facebook virus on 20 May

Comment: I have just received this via email from a facebook friend.. Is
there any truth to it??

An American Muslim Web Engineer who had been working for Facebook has
reacted against the blasphemy made by the non-muslims. He has resigned
from Facebook. He has programmed a Computer Virus that will get activated
on May 20, 2010. Anybody who logs in to Facebook on May 20, 2010, will get
the processor and RAM of his/her computer/laptop/mobile jammed. So make it
sure that you save your machine from being a victim by NOT logging into
facebook on May 20, 2010. Forward this message to everybody.

Why can't these fake virus warning writers ever write about a virus which causes a computer problem that is actually possible?

Because they would have to know something about computers other than "look, the monitor is shiny".

I give them a few points for knowing the names processor and RAM but it seems likely they don't actually have any understanding of what those really are or how they work.

I heard the Muslims have a new virus, that when you get it, crows will come and peck out your eyes. True story, my neighbor made fun of a Muslim and now his house is covered in crows and he has no eyes!

That sounds more like the Hitchcock virus.

It was awfully nice of this American Muslim Web Engineer to get the word out that he would be doing this.

Nonsense. A RAM is a male sheep normally kept for breeding. However sometimes the RAM is eaten and the size of your RAM determines how many bites you can take out of it.

The processor is the machine that mechanically recovers meat from a lamb carcase once all the prime cuts have been taken.

The bus is used to transport workers to and from the processing plant. They arrive either over the north bridge or the south bridge. Sometimes bad winter weather makes the journey difficult - this is known as the hard drive.

In the butchery section there is one chopping board that is valued and prized more highly than any other, and used by the most skilled workers only for removing the prime cuts - this is the "key" board. One person is in charge of allocating the knives; that person is the blade server. Some workers never learn the art such that they are permitted to use the key board, and are generally referred to as FLOPS.

Before the process begins all animals are checked for signs of disease. This is known as the screen. Sometimes a top level veterenarian supervises the screen, s/he is known as the Monitor.

These people aren't stupid - they know their stuff.

My ram got jammed once, but luckily I was able to put my thumb over the USB port and the build up of data pressure cleared the blockage.

I think this has something to do with it (have no idea if you must have a Facebook account to be able to see it).

I've been working in IT for too long, I can actually imagine what someone would call having their RAM or processor Jammed... basically it is a very very weak malware (not a virus since it doesn't replicate itself) if thats all it does, (a reboot will fix it). basically, what I've found someone means when they say their ram or processor is "Jammed" is that either there is a memory leak (RAM gets jammed) this is the more serious of the two, since it will usually result in the computer running out of memory and crashing, usually with a nice blue screen, or confusing error message to the end user. the cpu one is much more common and can be attributed to any number of problems, mostly badly written code that enters an infinite loop. modern computers are a bit harder to quickly code something that ramps up cpu usage to 100%, since most processors today are either at least hyperthreaded or dual/quad etc core.

I need to get me a nice padded server-room somewhere where I can be isolated from the unwashed masses of users... the fact that I can understand their gibberish means i've been doing this for far too long...

Phew! We made it. It's the 21st, my Facebook account is ok, and my RAM is well and truly unjammed.

He saw Tron. He thinks RAM is a guy that helps Jeff Bridges, who was a hacker in the movie.

Wait. I may be giving this guy too much credit.

I assume there is another chopping board used only for the lamb-bearing ewes?

PS. That's funny, mind if I forward it?
