A driver crashed a £528,000 supercar after spinning out of control on a test run down a country lane near Aberdeen, leaving an expensive insurance bill. Here are some other expensive crashes involving luxury cars.

In some of those cases, it is proof that money doesn't buy wisdom. In others, I am glad to see that the cars are being driven and not treated like art objects.

Hurricanes don't usually hit the Southwest. Not anything like the Southeast. If anything it's usually just the tail end of one, and it's just heavy rain. Since he only bought the car in 2008, I don't even know what hurricane he's talking about. There was a pacific typhoon that made it rain a lot several months ago, but it wasn't a hurricane when it hit California, just rain.

I think they somehow conflated the full name of the car (250 GT California Spyder) with the explanation that it was ruined in a hurricane zone and clumsily came up with the idea that a hurricane in California had done it in.
