Canadian weapons laws

Comment: I have two weapon legality questions.

I live in Vancouver, British Columbia, and I heard that there is a very
old law which is still in effect in this city alone (not all of BC):
essencially the law is that you're allowed to carry a full sword in public
if you are "escorting a lady home". There is a massive asian population
here, so I imagine it originated from that, but I've never been able to
track down the legitimacy of this law.

The other thing I heard was that if you're exiled from the province of
Alberta you have the legal right to demand a horse and a gun when you
leave. Like, as you are being kicked out, they send you packing with a
rifle and a horse. I dont know how you would be exiled these days, but
apparently that custom still holds up.

IE,very old rules that would have seen legitimate back then,but would make no sense today.

Wether these weapon laws exist or not,I don't think they'd hold much weight in a trial.

I was going to ask the same thing. Maybe confusion about the Sikh dagger? Or some crazy "all asians are honour-bound ninjas" stereotype?

I didn't think of the Sikh dagger. I was thinking more of either the Asians have big swords and bought the custom over or they need to guard their women a night from those dangerous Asians.

Could still be that. I'm not sure where the connection between the dagger and ladies comes in, myself.
