Comment: I just heard that Melinda Gates (French) was actually the Product
Manager for Microsoft Bob. Then she married the boss. |

I don't know what Microsoft Bob is, but Melinda Gates did work at Microsoft before marrying Bill Gates.
According to her Wikipedia entry (grains of salt all around) she was a unit manager of, among other things, Microsoft Bob.

I have read many an article relating to that forgettable MS product. Melinda was a manager for that devision. She was also on Microsoft's Board of Directors.

I could be wrong, but I believe Bob was released while she was involved with Bill (dating, engaged, or married). I don't know if it was in development before they started dating, however.
My boss bought a copy of it for her mom and dad, but didn't notice that it wasn't compatible with the computer they had at the time. The box may be floating around the office still; I'll check next time I'm there. But I don't get the point of the OP.

I think that its a dig at Melinda. Microsoft Bob was a notoriously bad product (not something she was probably too happy about remembering). The implication being was that she was dating Bill at the time and gave her a cushy job that was a failure.
At least thats how I interpreted it.

I think that interpretation makes sense, diddy, and I think the commenter is silly to make that dig.
Tech companies by their very nature often engage in risky experiments. Being part of a project that did not turn out perfectly is no reason to get fired at a tech company- I think most techies see these things as learning experiences.
