A picture has hit Digg that purports to show Heath Ledger skateboarding, in full Joker makeup and outfit, in Chicago while filming the The Dark Knight.

Wow, that is an awesome picture.
Something about the lighting on his right side looks funny, but it looks fine on his left side. I definitely hope it's real though. |

That looks just like the scene in the film when the Joker gleefully runs up to Batman's body right after Batman's suit had electrocuted a henchman, and jumps over Batman excitedly. Adding a photoshopped skateboard to it seems pretty trivial.

Though, for what it's worth, I was living in Chicago during the time they shot The Dark Knight and I heard on the radio about people who could see the filming. They did talk about Ledger skateboarding in full Joker makeup. I always pictured it as him just tooling down the street, though. |

I wouldn't have thought the board would clear Batman's legs from that picture.
Compare it to this *ahem* rather questionable story. Same Joker, different background. ETA: If it was just a casual shot of a bit of fun between shoots, why would Warner Bros put their watermark on the photo? Last edited by SatansHobbit; 11 January 2010 at 01:49 AM. |

I found this (tiny) picture, and there's no skateboard.

If something like this did happen, it would have been behind the set. Plus the quality would not be as good.

It's not as if more evidence needs adding, but I can't help wondering how much an actor would be allowed to piss about in-costume considering the effort and cost involved in producing the costumes in the first place. It's not like they could just go to Primark and buy a new Joker suit.

Does anyone have the DVD for Lords of Dogtown laying around? I thought there was footage of most of the actors doing skate tricks in the bonus material, but I have been known to have a faulty memory.
I vote skateboard is the photoshoped element. |

I suspect that it wasn't shot on site anyway, as the background looks a lot like a HDR shot, which is a technology not yet suited for movie shooting.
My guess: Static background, actors edited in, skateboard photoshopped in. |

Amusing how so many people seem interested in the legitimacy of this image, yet have apparantly not seen the movie to relates to. If they had, the real/fake argument would be mooooooooooot.
