Comment: I'm curious about an urban legend that I've heard for decades.
I am *fairly* certain it's an urban legend. I have researched it and researched it and can find *nothing* about it, except on personal blogs or in comment sections of online news sources, such as newspapers or TV news. According to the legend, either Johnny Carson or Paul Harvey (the source changes with the storyteller) once said on a broadcast, "If you want to get away with murder, go to ..." and then the name of the city or county in question is inserted. Examples can be found at the following links: http://boards.aetv.com/topic/Do-You-...ille/700005336 http://www.eacourier.com/articles/20...6100195740.txt http://www.collegenews.com/index.php...child_3422525/ http://greenecountyindiana.com/artic...er_dark_friday |

Comment: I live in Roane County, Tennessee. For years it has been rumored
that many years ago on The Tonight Show Johnny Carson made a comment something to the effect of "If you ever want to commit a murder and get away with it, go to Roane County Tennessee." While some people swear it is true, others say there never was a statement like this made on The Tonight Show. And to be honest, it truly seems like this happens. Many alleged murderers are either found not guilty or end with a hung jury. I attempted to find the truth about this rumor on your site, but had no luck. Can you find the truth? |
