Comment: I routinely go to your site to check the validity of emails
received from friends/family. I just wanted to take a moment to thank your staff for their due diligence which helps me sort through the good intensions of the forwarding party! Many of the emails are harmless but there are a few that come across that need to be corrected, with your help, I try to keep the “record” straight. I particularly like the emails that state, “have been verified by Snopes”, and when you check your site…NOT!!! Guess the originator thinks this adds weight to their stories, but the savvy users of your site always checks! ;o) Keep up the good work, it’s much appreciated. |

Comment: Just a quick note to say how much I like and admire this site. I
have always been interested in urban legends (since buying a book years and years ago with a title something like "The Vanishing Hitch Hiker - Urban Legends and their Meanings.") Thank you so much for providing this resource. Just a few minutes ago I received, yet again, another urban legend hoax (this time a medical warning about "aspartame.") Of course, your site quickly dispelled it (in fact your example of the hoax was very close to the narrative of the one I received.) I am to the point I can pick out an urban legend quite effectively. Anyway, thanks. |

Comment: I want to thank you for having your site...all the maintenance,
keeping it up to date etc. I've considered myself centrist, questioning everything. But my dad and husband always send me stuff that I love to pull up on Snopes and show them that it is really years old...and false. Lately it was poor Andy Rooney. I think that no one should forward any "fact" email unless they verify it with Snopes. Furthermore, anyone over 65 should be required to have Snopes a click away and have to verify all emails they forward. Unfortunately, my dad and mother-in-law and all their friends are oh so guilty of that. I hate being the "know it all" and forward them your link but all the blind acceptance of these "factual" emails drives me bonkers. Thanks for the help. |

Over 65? If there's anything these UL's prove, it's that stupidity happens at all ages.

Comment: I just wanted to THANK you for providing this site. I'm amazed
at the forwarded emails I get from friends that I consider intelligent, that are either totally bogus, or so misrepresented (to propagandize an issue, on either side), that I literally get stomach upset and am disgusted that anyone would stoop so low. So THANK YOU! |

Comment: I am so thankful for the Snopes site. There are so many rumors
and emails that look so legit. It is hard for the average person to distinquish between false and true. Thank you for being there and being so on top of these issues. |

Comment: THANKS. IT IS ESSENTIALLY IMPOSSIBLE FOR THE ORDINARY PERSON TO
SEPARATE THE WHEAT FROM THE CHAFF, THE EMOTION FROM THE FACT, AND/OR THE TRUTH FROM THE LIE. YOU DO A GREAT SERVICE. I HOPE YOU WILL MAINTAIN. |

Comment: Just wanted to send you a heartfelt THANK YOU! for the work you
do. What nobler endeavor than exposing rumors and lies , banishing ignorance and upholding the truth. I can't tell you how many times I have received a chain e-mail from a friend or family member who has been whipped into a lather by a provocative, inflammatory lie and all I have to do is type a few of the keywords into your site and often have the origin and date of first appearance clearly identified, but most importantly, the contents rebutted or upheld as the facts may warrant. You are providing a tremendous service to democracy. |

Comment: Hello,
I just wanted to send along a grateful THANK YOU for providing this website to the general public. Like so many people, I work in an office environment where at least once a week some new scam email flies around the office. Human nature is such that we all tend to believe what's in writing, so most people pass these things on and on. And as much as I hate to be the one to burst their bubble of fascinated horror, it bothers me to let people believe idiotic stuff. I am compelled to hit REPLY with a link to your page on your site which identifies the culprit email as False. It is sad that most of us latch onto the wrong kind of ideas without doing the proper research, but I think this is the culture we are in today. Thanks to you, at least some of us have a way of quickly identifying whether something is true or false; and if false, to stop perpetuating the falsehood. So thank you VERY MUCH for your ongoing championing for Truth and Justice in a world full of people who crave the sensational. |

Comment: Extremely nice attempt to explore some of the imp issues that we
normally ignore in our life but which actually means a lot. As I have been working on urban legend for many yrs in India, Assam, this website is really very helpful.Although in India, people are still not want to think of this kind of issues, so many a time I come across lots of arguements so, need to share.Wish snopes all the success... |
