Mexico Got milk?

Comment: There is a rumor that when "Got Milk? was translated into
Spanish, it meant "Are you lactating?".

This seems comparable enough to the Chevy Nova case to warrant
verification.

Ponder Lost in the translation

Quote:
Difficult though it may be to believe, not all of us have been chortling and slapping our knees upon seeing those delightful "Got Milk?" commercials. What's so funny, some Latinos have asked, about a tag line that translates to "Are you lactating?"

I'm always skeptical, though, when a source asserts an embarrassing translation blunder took place but doesn't offer the specific wording (or other evidence) of the mistranslated version.

"Tienes leche?" means "do you have milk" which in Mexico is a double entendre. And it's the same double entendre in the US. See http://static.desktopnexus.com/wallp...gthumbnail.jpg
