Icon402 Another foot washes up on Vancouver-area beach

It's the 7th shoe holding human remains found in B.C. since 2007

Blow Your Top

Huh. I guess those people who say "I'd lose my head if it weren't attached" are worrying about the wrong thing.

Did a cometary get washed into the sea by river erosion or flood?

"cemetary"? Wouldn't it be rather unusual for every body to be washed out of a flooded cemetary to have been dressed in athletic shoes? Okay, maybe typical women's shoes fall off and typical men's shoes would sink with the foot inside, but wouldn't it be fairly unusual for a person formally buried to be in athkletic shoes? Maybe one or two, but this situation involves at least 5, and all in the Vancouver area.

What's that old adage, when you correct someone else's grammar, you will invariably make a mistake yourself?

Bear

A foot thought to be a human foot washed up on a tributary of the Chesapeake Bay this past summer, but it turned out to be a bear paw discarded by a taxedermist.

A friend of mine lives in Vancouver, and he was telling me just last night about the problems there are with gang violence.

I wonder if messages are being sent.

This struck me:

The B.C. Coroners' Service and the RCMP concluded in the earlier cases that the remains separated naturally from the bodies and were not detached using tools.
It is not natural for one's foot to detach from one's leg.

That likely means that the feet were detached as a part of the decomposition process and the movement of water and possibly wildlife, as opposed to bearing marks indicating the feet were forcibly severed.

Skull

We've discussed this here before, but it's been a while and I'm sure those threads are long gone.

Most athletic shoes are fairly buoyant. As a body underwater decomposes, feet in athletic shoes will naturally rise, and eventually detach from the body. The currents are taking these particular feet to Vancouver. There's no evidence that someone cut these feet from anyone's body, living or dead. The question is, whose feet are they, and how and where did they drown?
