Icon605 Latest bank fee is for paying off credit card on time every month

You floss regularly, yield to oncoming traffic and use your credit cards judiciously, dutifully paying off your balance every month.

You may believe that your exemplary behavior shields you from unexpected credit card fees. Sadly, that is no longer the case.

Starting next year, Bank of America will charge a small number of customers an annual fee, ranging from $29 to $99. The bank has characterized the fee as experimental. But card holders who have never carried a balance or paid late fees could be among those affected.

I closed my Skank of America and my Citicrap cards a good while ago.

I have now just my USAA card, my local credit union card, and a Chase rewards card.

I haven't had problems with Chase yet: I hope I don't. The credit union card is for stuff my husband gets to pay (car repairs and medical expenses), the Chase card is for my business expenses, and the USAA is for personal stuff I pay off monthly.

The article recommends a credit union card or an association card, specifically mentioning USAA, so I'm in good shape there - but the minute a credit card company thinks they are getting an annual fee from me I'm closing that account and I'm not worried about my credit score.

Greedy bastards. Screw them. A profit is good and fine but this industry is just collectively out for usury. I'm not playing that.

I've been in the process of paying off several credit cards for a bit now. If any of them negatively change my rates/fees I will either transfer the money immeadiately or pay that card off first. This is what I did with my Target card when they boosted the inerest rate by 4% overnight without recourse. The one card I have left is with one of my credit unions. It has had a reasonable rate, without fees for the ten years I've had the card.
