Default A Gathering Storm - Robert Jordan and Brandon Sanderson

I've been here for quite some time, but I rarely post. Please be kind, and overlook any breaching of bounds as ignorance, rather than intentional.

I've been reading Robert Jordan's Wheel of Time series since I was about 14 years old (I'm 34 now) and, after re-reading the series, am really looking forward to the rest of the series. Is anyone even reading this series anymore? I realize I'm a little old to be thinking about this book, but I am so excited about it! What do you guys/girls think? Are you still reading this series? Are you looking forward to this book? I, for one, am very anxious/excited to see what Mr. Sanderson has brought to the series.

Thanks for reading, and more for replying. Happy reading, everyone!

I intend to read it, but I only read paperbacks, so it will be quite a while.

I'm still reading and am looking forward to its release - having read the first chapter online it is clear the writing is going to be different (which is fair enough it's a different author) but I am happy with Sanderson's writing style generally. I recently re-read the first 11 to gear me up for the next and, while some of my criticisms remain about the need for some stronger editorial work and I cringe over some of the covers, still feel they represent a significant achievement.

They plan to re-release the books with new cover art. Though the last books will still get the Darrell K Sweet covers. I of course not only plan to be reading it but am working as a fan promoter, aka Storm Leader. I have bumper stickers that say "I killed Asmodean" and "Bela is a Darkfriend." Tor is going all out to promote this book. I'm also staff at Jordan Con and Head of the Brown Ajah at Tarvalon.net So you won't hear me saying you're too old for the books.

I'm glad there are at least a few here!

I just downloaded the book on audible, so I'll have to actually pay attention and listen slowly. I'll also read the book, but I'd tear through it too quickly if I read it first.

Oh, and I agree the covers are hideous.

Thanks for the responses!
