I've read in "expose" reports that CdS is very anal about safety, so this takes me by surprise.

Most of what CdS performers do are, by nature, high-risk activities. Proper safety equipment, training and a focus on "safety culture" all work to minimise the potential for harm both by reducing the number of incidents and the damage caused when incidents occur.

Sadly, that doesn't make it impossible for serious injury or even death to occur from accidents involving high-risk activities.
