Officials probe electrocutions
Friends and neighbors mourned as Palm Bay investigators attempted to find out why a father, mother and son tried to put up a 50-foot radio antenna at night, just yards away from live power lines that electrocuted them.

I believe the general rule is not to install any antenna that is taller than half the distance to the nearest power lines, for exactly this reason

I think I can tell why they tried to put up an antenna close to a power line: Never underestimate the human stupidity.
