I caught a bit on the news as I was leaving the house - donated organs apparently being riddled with cancer, CJD and hepatitis.

Apparently were no abnormalities evident in the lungs. Surely a smoker's lungs would be tarry and unhealthy looking as per the scary images on cigarette cartons? Or are the images on the cartons lying?

From the article I read yesterday in the paper, they were known to be "smoker's lungs" in the first place, but no cancer was detected at transplant stage.

Wasn't there a woman who got rabies from a transplanted organ not so long ago?
