The worst movie in the history of Hollywood just got better...
... not sure what to think of this...

OH.
GOD. NO. Why? Wood's original is the ultimate in the category of "so bad it's actually fun to watch" but what's the reason for this? (I know, I know--somebody wants to make money.) The problem I have is that Wood really would not appreciate this remake since the version that he put together WAS basically the story he wanted to tell. Yes, he did his stuff on the cheap but it's really doubtful that even the greatest FX (whether in the 1950s or today) would've helped Wood in the least. (And we all know how not even the greatest special effects can turn a pile of cow manure into a work of art.) I know I went on record defending the upcoming remake of Nightmare on Elm Street, but I honestly have no problem seeing a new take on a film that was pretty good in the first place. Taking a BAD movie and trying to make it "better", well--no. |

Wernt some of teh issues of Plan 9, -- no budget, bad acting, washed up cast, a cast memebr dying during shooting and the key.. Ed Wood?
I think a New director and a new cast can really MAKE a difference..even with a bad script..

This is a spoof, right? Not a real movie trailer?

Not according to the film's website. It is an attempt at a serious retelling of the original.

This is why I have learned to avoid saying that Hollywood's reached the bottom of the barrel.

Wow. Just... wow.
Based on the trailer, this movie rests on the knife's edge--it's either going to be a wildly entertaining homage to the original, or awful (and not the "good awful" that the original was). At the very least, the trailer has me interested...

This is definitely not Hollywood. It looks like a student film. And the production company only has a placeholder for a webpage and its address is Charlottesville, VA (location of UVA).

Based on the trailer I can't figure out if this will be a fun tribute or a waste of celluloid. At any rate, I am at least intrigued.
