For some reason, I can no longer connect to the internet using my home laptop (Mac) using ethernet. I have a cable modem, so I don't need to install specific software. I have connected using the modem before, and have not changed any settings. My network dialog box says that the ethernet is connected, but for some reason I can't load pages (they all time out). I can connect using the wireless to my neighbor's signal, so the trouble seems to be specific to the ethernet. I've tried restarting it, and it still doesn't connect. I can connect to the cable with my work laptop, but I'd prefer not to have to use it for personal stuff.
I'm sure the reason my computer is acting up is because I mentioned to Chloe at lunch that I may need to replace it in a year or so. *sigh*

Did you try turning everything off and turning them back on, one by one, in sequence starting with the cable modem?

that would be my guess... turn off the computer, reset the modem then turn on the computer. I have to do that every time I switch the modem between the desktop and laptop.

Did not try turning off the modem, but I don't think I've had to do that in the past when I've switched between home and work laptops. It's too late to do that today (I've got other stuff to do) but will try that tomorrow if it doesn't clear itself up.
