My little sister used to bite people when she was about 3-4. Fortunately we fixed that problem before she started school.

Now, see, that's why I took Non Violent Crisis Intervention and recertify every year. God forbid this happen to me, but if it did I'd know what to do. And prying the kid's mouth open isn't it. Although if it worked, more power to them, I guess.

ETA: I may not agree with all of its tenets, but once you've been bitten (and I have), you want to know what to do about it. I had a bruise on my arm the size of a toonie. Thank God she didn't break the skin. This guy will have to get tetanus and Hep B shots and all sorts of nasty things.

Hold their nose shut; if they want to breathe, they will let go. (Does not work during the years between losing the first baby tooth and gaining the last adult tooth, because they can still breathe through the gaps.)

Chances are pretty good that this student falls in that gap gap, as he's in elementary school (IME, kids typically lose their front teeth between 1st and 4th grades).
