I've lived with a strabismus my whole life. It can get to be a pain.
Many people with strabismus see double, but I have the opposite problem. When I try to concentrate on an object, I need to use a single eye. Otherwise, there is an area in the middle of the object that is invisible to me. When I golf, for instance, if I don't pick up the ball right away, I just won't see it. This is a huge pain in the nfsbk. Driving at night in the rain is where I especially have problems, and it's gotten so bad, I decided that if I couldn't get it at least to a tolerable level, I'd have to give up driving. I saw my ophthalmologist yesterday, and when he was cycling through the different prescriptions for my eyes, he introduced a prism to my squint eye and asked me if it was any better. I was speachless. I swear I could hear angels sing. I think I sat there for at least a minute and a half just staring through the vision thingie before he finally asked, "well?" I was having trouble not choking up. I asked him, "is this how a normal person's eyes work?" In about three hours, I get to go to the ophthalmology lab to have a test prism added to my current prescription. I'm extremely excited. Now...my only question is...why couldn't this be done five years ago when I really started to complain to him about how bad it was getting? Anyone else with strabismus problems? I'm curious to see how others have gotten on with their lives.

Nothing to say except "WOOHOO!!" Glad you get to see *normal*.
ETA: ...not that Fargo has much to see. Kidding! I lived in GF way too long. A lot less interesting there!

Incidentally, after hitting the golf course tonight, I found something I was not really aware of before. This world has a lot of vibrant colors and hues to be enjoyed. I've never really been able to look at a point and concentrate on it before. Now that I can, I'm simply amazed at what there is to see.

I've had that problem with my left eye, but I wore glasses and an eye patch as a child, so it's not as noticeable unless I'm really tired. There was a period from my teens to when I was in my mid 20's that I had great vision, but in my mid 20's, I noticed that things in the distance were starting to get blurry, so I got glasses again. That particular vision problem runs in my family, as my brother who didn't have strabismus, also got glasses when he was in his 20's.
