Default Swedish burger chain ditches Dole over Bananas!* lawsuit

Quote:
Swedish hamburger chain Max has said it will stop selling Dole fruit salad in retaliation for the US food giant’s bid to muzzle a Swedish documentary film about the company.

“We don’t like Dole’s actions. Suing a filmmaker instead of having a dialogue is despicable,” said Max CEO Richard Bergfors to the Realtid.se news website.

Well, I'm glad they did it, now I'll continue having them at the top of my hamburger list. I love it when companies make a stand against censorship and other human rights issues, rather than just sitting safe and silent. Well done, Max!

Now, ICA, one of the biggest grocery chains (the biggest?), has demanded a meeting with Dole to discuss the issue.

Default Dole drops Bananas!* lawsuit

Quote:
Dole Foods was withdrawn its lawsuit against Swedish filmmaker Fredrik Gertten over a documentary film which the company claimed contained falsehoods which harmed the US food giant.

“It’s a really positive development. It’s thanks to the support we’ve received,” Gertten told the TT news agency.

“A court in the US was going to rule on the matter in two weeks. I suspect that Dole realized they had a weak case. They probably thought it was best to pull back before the trial.”
