I'm not certain that a twin growing somewhere within the abdomen really qualifies as "pregnant." If the (born) child was a male, would they have still called him pregnant?

"Sensationalist headline miraculously makes already interested story more interesting!"

Agreed, mags, it certainly is misleading.

They did use quotes around pregnant in the article...

But glad the baby is okay.

Probably, due to the fact that there was an umbilical cord and a fetus there and it was growing. I agree with you that it doesn't actually count as "pregnant" in any way but I do think if it had been a male they would have used the same word.

Since they were going for sensational, "pregnant boy baby!" is even more sensational then "pregnant girl baby!" so I don't think they would have passed up that chance for the extra sensationalism.

There was a case where the boy (who was sevral years old) was referred to as "pregnant with his own twin". There was a whole documentary about him and operation to remove the fetus in fetu. It was fascinating to see the removed mass.

Complain as you may, it is the the best way to make a line more dramatic... to insert a pregnant pause.

Okay, I'm confused. Human gestation is 9 months, give or take a couple weeks. This baby had the operation at 12 months. What happened to those other 3 months?

The fetal material that was removed wasn't gestating like a normal human.
