Actor Nicholas Lyndhurst is to star in the Only Fools and Horses prequel, playing the father of the character he made famous in the original show.
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertainment/8290293.stm Much as I love Only Fools and Horses I am not sure that this is a good idea. Has there been a good prequel. First of the Summer Wine was a disaster. |

I'm guessing it might be worth a look, especially in Nick Lyndhurst is on board - i'm sure he's not doing it for the money, so i'd expect a bit of quality in the script. Let's face it 'Green Green Grass' has been commissioned for a fourth series and nobody had particularly high hopes for that...

I agree, and luckily they aren't going to do that. It will seem strange to watch Only Fools and Horses (if we are lucky enough to get this episode in Canada) without David Jason though.

Does anyone know anything about James Buckley who is going to play Delboy? Oh, and I wonder if we are going to see the death of Del's and Rodney's mother? Then we really will find out what she told Del on her death bed!

Lyndhurst was the younger son on Butterflies, right?

Yup. I really enjoyed the tone of that series, even though I was only a kid. |

He played the very obnoxious, though very funny, Jay in Channel 4/e4's The Inbetweeners, complete with a broad cockney accent. Don't know if that's how he speaks in real life, or just for the show. I'm sure if he chucks in a couple of incorrect French phrases he'll pull off a decent Del Trotter.
