Well I can't really pass judgment until I learn how many Oscars he's won...

Did anyone else actually read the linked article? A few choice quotes:

Quote:
Although he had no medical license, Graybill allegedly advertised himself as a physician through Internet listings on Craigslist and solicited potential clients, offering up to $4,000 monthly for sperm donations for "stem cell and other research."
And what have we learned from this, kiddies? If you respond to a "physician" who's advertising through Craigslist, don't expect legitimate medical services.

Quote:
"He carried a black bag like a doctor," Robison (a spokeswoman for the Los Angeles County district attorney's office) said.
And, by many accounts, so did Jack the Ripper and take another look at the famous poster for The Exorcist. Carrying a black bag does NOT mean someone is "like a doctor" in all cases.

Quote:
Graybill arranged to meet the first victim at the man's home June 10 and the second on June 20 at an apartment Graybill managed. He is accused of posing as a physician and fondling both men, Carbonell said.
Okay now, a physician who doesn't have an office should be a BIG warning flag. If these guys were answering an ad from a guy offering to pay for sperm donations, why would they be embarrassed to go TO a fertility clinic to make the deposit? Also, in this day and age, what doctor makes a housecall?

Quote:
After Graybill failed to pay the men, one of them filed a complaint with Los Angeles police in June, triggering the investigation, Carbonell said. He said Phoenix police also are investigating Graybill in connection with several similar assaults on men there.
Ah, here we have the REAL problem. The guys didn't get paid for their "donations." If the guys HAD been paid, would they have been willing to suffer the same indignities that they apparently faced?

Quote:
Prosecutors have charged Graybill with 11 felonies, including practicing medicine without certification, identity theft, sexual penetration and sexual battery by fraud.
Um, sexual penetration? That's not usually the way to get a sperm deposit. Weren't these guys aware of how LEGITIMATE fertility clinics handle (no pun intended) sperm deposits? Hell, that's such common fodder for comedies that it should be a universal constant. The donor is given a cup and maybe a magazine or two and shown to a PRIVATE room to, um, provide his donation. And sexual battery by fraud is a real crime? What exactly does it entail? (This whole bit sort of reminds me of the "Family Guy" episode where Peter has a prostate exam and sues the doctor for rape.)
Once again, answering an ad on Craigslist by a "doctor willing to pay for sperm" is usually NOT a good idea.

On the "sexual penetration" bit I wonder if he was obtaining sperm via prostate massage or the like, or he could have been telling the men he had to perform a prostate exam. Which in the end (no pun intended) is better than the Mengele method of the insertion of an electrical probe and flicking it on.

Still though, I admit I hadn't read the article before- Craigslist?? Really?

That was on TV last night. Very apt.

Where were these ads? It's not uncommon for some craigslist ads in certain sections to have a roleplaying element to it. I think it's hard to say what happenned unless we look at the ad.
