Skull Why we love those rotting, hungry, putrid zombies

Quote:
"You can't shoot the financial meltdown in the head -- you can do that with a zombie," said Max Brooks, author of the best-selling "Zombie Survival Guide" and "World War Z" -- which is currently in development to become a movie.

Ever seen "Fido"?
I don't love zombies but they do factor into some of my favorite movies. How can you not love "Shawn of the Dead"?

I loved that they killed the zombies in "Shawn of the Dead," because zombies are bad and scary!

I think a better title should be "Why We Love Shooting Zombies" because honestly, that's what we like about zombies, shooting them. Well, that and the fact that tame ones can be used for boring domestic and workforce chores.

Yeah, I think it is the offing of zombies that people love. I love my zombie movie collection, even the bad ones.

Maybe the fascination comes from an idea C.S. Lewis points out in one of the Narnia books, (seriously paraphrasing here) something about how things that are almost human but not quite, or once were human but aren't anymore are the scariest/worst creatures of all.

I played a zombie in a movie once (a short one). My brother wrote and directed it:

The Hungry Dead

I first appear about 42 seconds in, walking alongside a river. The girl seen running away and screaming just afterwards is my daughter, Ashley. I'm also the second zombie to enter the house.

MY nephew has this weird thing about zombies. (He's 5) When he sees a picture of a scary monster or someone in a scary costume he calls them "Zombie!" instead of the more generic "Monster".
