More than half of babies now born in the UK and other wealthy nations will live to 100 years, researchers say.
The study, published in The Lancet journal, also says the extra years are spent with less serious disability.

This really came as a surprise as we (in the UK at least) have been told that obesity among children is like a 'walking time bomb' and that the current generation of children will be 'the first to die before their parents'.
If the study, carried out by the Danish Ageing Research Centre at the University of Southern Denmark, is correct it also has implications for the care of the elderly.
