Didn't see a thread about this show so I thought I'd start one.
Right now, I'm muy intrigued. The show reminds me of Heroes before it degenerated into a massive pile of suck and I think I'm going to watch until it is either canceled or until it follows Heroes and jumps the shark after its first season. So far no one on this show seems to be Mohinder-level stupid which is a good thing and with any luck they'll avoid that pitfall. So talk, what do you think of the show? |

(They even snuck a nice Lost easter egg into the pilot.) ![]() (Sharp eyed veiwers have noted that the billboard brags about Oceanic's perfect safety record. This coupled with the fact that the show is set 5 years AFTER the crash of flight 815 would tell us that if this is a Lost spin off, it doesn't occur in the same universe as the show.)

The main guy is pretty annoying so far, like a dangerous cross between Mohinder and Jack. But I too am very intrigued. I am worried about poor Harold. Or what ever his name is on this show.

Haven't seen episode two yet (will do when I get home tonight). I found the pilot to be intriguing and I will definitely keep watching based on the premise alone. That said I also think if this is gonna go past one season it's going to have to step up its game quite a bit when it comes to the "big" revelations.

I don't like Lost at all, so I hope that FlashForward doesn't devolve to that "hey, that sounds interesting, throw that in too!" stuff Lost appeared to do. In other words, no surprise communities suddenly popping up when the plotline starts to sag.
I've never seen Heroes, FWIW -RB

This one intrigued me so I'm watching.. not many shows these days are catching my interested.. comedies are well.. yuck...(don't get me started on Accidentally On Purpose....). I didn't recognize any Lost people on there but then I stopped watching Lost around season 2 or 3.
I'm worrying about Demetri.. I want him to stick around but after tonight it ain't looking good but at least he'll be around for a while. Oddly the main guy .. ah Mark- reminds me of Jack on Lost. Very interesting premise though- can't wait to see more.

Having read the book it's based on, I'm mainly curious to see the ways in which the premise has changed, as well as the actual cause of the event (in the novel, it was certainly a matter of con-cern).
So far, the temporal principles seem different from the book. So far, the series has shown far more of a predeterministic view, while the novel had a more maleable timeline. It should be interesting to find out about the unaffected few, too, as they weren't in the book, either.

Well I think the second episode did a good job of continuing to up the ante, so count me in for the rest of the series. At first I thought the big reveal was just going to be the fact that there were two, but the daughter's revelation at the end was quite intriguing and well done. I think as time goes on in the show the predeterministic view point will fade and we will see some deviations from the established future. I imagine they'll play around quite a bit with the predetermined future first, though. I do hope we get to move away from the "police procedural" format a bit more as the series moves on, though. It was necessary for this first episode since so far the main character is the only one with any real foresight into how to go about investigating it. Now that we know there are others out there investigating it to hopefully that means we get to see some variance on the formula. That will be very welcome, IMO, since I've been sick of "Random Same Old Cop Show #24353425" for a long long time now.
ETA: I predict the backlash starts before even the second season, though. The show is too "different" for it to be universally praised for long.

To me the main character, Mark, bears a physical resemblance to Lost's Nestor Carbonell (Richard Alpert on the show,) but I don't think he's even remotely Jack-like. For one, he doesn't seem to be a control freak.

Yes, same name. It's a pretty good read. Very different from the show so far, so think of them as only loosely related rather than a direct adaptation.
The book was 10 years old but initially set in 2009, so there are a few funny moments reading the 1999 version of 2009. |

So far, it's my favorite new show of the season. One thing that strikes me is that when it gets to the real April 29th, people probably aren't going to be acting like they did in their vision. Many of the people were in relatively casual situations and acting normal about it - but when it gets to the "real" moment, they're going to be going "Hey, this is that moment I dreamed about six months ago!" and kind of freaked out by it. Don't you think?

Does anyone know who the actress is that played the woman who called Det. Noh near the end of the episode? I was distracted for a lot of it last night, but I think it's a pretty good show overall. Like.

I was happy to find out that Robert Sawyer insisted on being involved in the show. He is creative consultant and will write one episode. I hope that the show won't be dumbed down too much versus the book.
I am enjoying the show. I was sort of biased against Joseph Fiennes, because of the crap that was Shakespeare in Love, but he's not bad in this. Strange to hear him without his Brit accent though. I got used to an un-Britished Jamie Bamber in BSG, so I can get used to this. |

And the show just went up a few more notches in my estimation. Another Lostie shows up (Kim Dickens, who played Cassidy on Lost), and in the same episode, Gina Torres and Thomas Kretschmann. Quite a big pile of folks I like in one show.

So...April 29th is my birthday.
And Suspect Zero was at a ballpark in Detroit. My husband is worried now. ![]() I like it, but man, another show to keep up with will be tough.

I added it to the TIVO because it looked cool, but I'm really getting sucked in. Definitely along for the ride.
Although, as DH mentioned, there are way too many Olivias around. And are they all on the same night? FlashForward and Fringe are, what night is SVU on?
