That's awesome!

I've never had one. I'm 33...I'm thinking it's about time I start thinking about it.

We started this last year, hoping to present a comicly large check for several hundred dollars. That check turned out to be worth about 22K. Here's a report on the press conference from yesterday, October 1, 2009.

Our local top 40 station does a fund raiser every year called Cans for a Cure. It's supposedly the world's largest bottle drive but who knows for sure. Anyway, for the last couple of years I've been trying to get my co-workers to chip in and have only gathered about 2 bags full (maybe $4 worth) plus I usually give whatever I can for a cash donation on top of that. This year I started a lot earlier. I've been gathering cans and bottles all year and sent out a notice about a week ago to really ramp up the giving.

So far, I've got over $10 worth of bottles and cans and will hopefully at least double that by the 16th. I'm also encouring folks to give cash donations once they've got the website set up.

The big motivation this year too is that one of our co-workers has been dealing with breast cancer. She's just come back part time after being out most of the summer for surgeries and treatment. Thankfully she's doing really well so far!
