Ambulance Doctor Charged with Theft of Dying Man's Rolex

The children of a former Manteca, Calif., police lieutenant have sued an emergency room doctor who they say allowed their father to die so the doctor could steal the man's expensive Rolex watch.

The lawsuit states that two nurses at the hospital noticed the missing watch after Kubena died and saw a watch bulge in Enmon's pocket.
"Doctor, is that a watch in your pocket, or are you just happy to see us?"

While there doesn't seem to be any doubt that the doctor did, in fact, steal the watch, is there any proof to support the allegation that he actually let the guy die just so he could steal the watch? Or did he do all he could, and in the hubbub to record the death, figured he could slip the watch in his pocket and no one would notice?

I mean, the theft in and of itself is unforgiveable, but if the doctor honestly gave up attempts to resuscitate when continued intervention may have prevented the man from dying just to lift an expensive watch... that's just unthinkable.

Under the circumstances, it would be homicide or manslaughter, in that he had undertaken the obligation to do all he could to save the patient's life.
